New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Hon. Bryan Acheampong, has declared his intention to “adopt” the Volta Region as a personal priority area for development and empowerment, as he concluded his week-long campaign tour of the region.
Addressing a charged crowd in Vakpo at the climax of his tour yesterday, Mr Acheampong pledged a new chapter of inclusion, development, and accountability for the Volta Region, which has long been regarded as a difficult political terrain for the NPP. “Together, we’ll build a future everyone can be proud of,” he told supporters, drawing loud applause and chants from delegates and party workers.
The tour, which saw him visit major towns including Ho, Hohoe, and Peki, attracted large turnouts as residents waved NPP flags and placards in support of his message of renewal and reform. Mr Acheampong said his decision to “adopt” the Volta Region was both symbolic and practical, representing a commitment to engage directly with local communities, support grassroots structures, and drive development initiatives tailored to the region’s needs.
Outlining his vision under what he described as “Four Pillars for Progress,” Mr Acheampong promised to unify the party, strengthen the local base through targeted resourcing, enforce discipline, and deliver what he termed “development with dignity.” He stressed that accountability and results-driven leadership would define his administration if elected flagbearer.
“We will bridge divides within our party and constituencies, resource the grassroots, and ensure that every local leader feels seen and supported. The NPP must be a family that works together to build Ghana,” he said.
Mr Acheampong added that the Volta Region deserved tangible development projects to restore a sense of pride among residents. “Under my leadership, we will bring visible progress — roads, hospitals, and schools — to ensure that development reaches every community,” he assured.
During a church service at the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church in Vakpo, the Minister paid tribute to deceased party members, describing them as “the backbone of our journey.” His message of remembrance and respect, he said, was a reminder that the party’s future was built on the sacrifices of those who came before.
His “I Adopt Volta” initiative, he explained, would include regular visits, active community engagements, and youth-focused projects targeting unemployment and infrastructural deficits.
As he wrapped up his regional tour, Mr Acheampong reaffirmed his determination to continue engaging directly with Ghanaians in all regions. “This is just the beginning. Volta’s time is now,” he declared to thunderous applause.
