D-Line Youth Association of NPP calls for peace in the December polls

Members of the D-Line Youth Association of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region have pledged their commitment to support efforts at ensuring a peaceful election in the December polls.

They equally entreated other youths and Ghanaians in general to also avoid political violence in the run-up to the December 2020 elections in order to consolidate the gains made in the country's democratic dispensation.

Speaking at a forum on consolidating the gains of the NPP in the Zongo communities at Bolgatanga on Sunday, August 23, 2020, the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Association, Mr Mohammed Abubakari a.k.a Yeboah further appealed to religious and traditional authorities to help “uphold the peace, progress and development of our dear nation Ghana”.

He also called on them “to pray for the visionary President Nana Akufo-Addo, his vice and team of experts to carry us safely to the promise land".

Zongo Development

Mr Abubakari pointed out that Zongo communities have not been left out in the government’s flagship programmes.

He explained that the Planting for Food and Jobs (PfJs), Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD), Rearing for Food and Jobs (RFJs) and the Special Rice Initiative Project(SRIP) among others have all benefited people who live in Zongo communities in one way or the other.

He intimated that under the Arabic Instructors Programme in collaboration with the Youth Employment Agency, three thousand Arabic Instructors have been recruited and deployed to various schools and learning centres in the country over the past two years.

He however expressed displeasure about the way some critics of the NPP government who have parochial interests engage in propaganda with the notion that the NPP was not interested in the development of Zongo communities.

“NPP is the only political party that established a Ministry to specifically address challenges in Zongo communities in the history of Ghana," Mr Abubakari observed.

The Organizer of the Association, Mr Antular Abdul-Razak a.k.a.Azaabioo,said since the establishment of the group in 2012,members have been educating the Zongo communities on the party's policies for the Zongo areas.

“We are therefore here to let the people of the Zongo communities know that the NPP government has a lot of plans for them; you can even look at the ongoing astro turf stadium project for the Zongo communities at Bolgatanga,” he pointed out.

Dignitaries

The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Joseph Amiyuure, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Bolgatanga Central, Mr Rex Asanga, the Regional Nasara Coordinator,Alhaji Mohammed Siita Abubakar and the Regional Communications Director of the NPP, Mr Sanusi Issah all spoke at the forum.

Mr Amiyuure said the government had done a lot for the people of Bolgatanga and Upper East Region in general.

He mentioned 90 boreholes that has been installed in communities in the Bolgatanga Municipality adding that 20 more will be provided for the people.

Other projects being provided in the Region he said include new streetlights and rehabilitation of major roads in the area.

Alhaji Abubakar for his part revealed that the government has made available GH¢468,000 to purchase land for burial purposes in the Zongo communities because the existing cemetery was no longer conducive for burial.

Mr Issah and Mr Asanga both entreated the electorate particularly those in the Zongo communities to vote four more years for President Nana Akufo-Addo and the parliamentary candidate, Mr Asanga to represent the people of Bolgatanga in parliament to fast track development in the constituency.
