First successful PPP election at KEEA
The Progressive People's Party (PPP) has sent a message of congratulations to the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Constituency on the successful conclusion of its constituency election which was held at the weekend.
A message signed by the Communications Director of the party, Paa Kow Ackon, said the old executive were not retained by the delegates.
The message noted that in all the six zones in the constituency where voting took place, the atmosphere was calm without any incidence of acrimony or irregularities.
It said the election was keenly contested and certified results from the Municipal Electoral Officer, Mrs Nana Ama Mensimah Quayson-Amoah, was declared amid jubilation and disappointment from winners and losers respectively.
It said in all, 1,800 paid-up members were expected to vote but a little over 1,100 showed up to cast their votes for their favourites at the six zonal polling stations.
According to the message as synonymous with the PPP, all the most essential features of a democratic electoral system were present and that the will of the majority was achieved; while the election was generally free, fair and transparent.
‘’The party wishes to congratulate all the winners and better luck to those who lost. As a party, we shall never abandon any of the candidates who expresses interest to lead the party through this election’’ and concluded that their services shall surely be helpful in winning the KEEA seat for the PPP in 2020’,’ the statement said.
