Speaking to community stakeholders during a visit to the Ada Constituency, Dr. Bawumia emphasized Ghana's remarkable achievement in the use of drones for delivering essential medical supplies.

He noted that Ghana’s leadership in this field demonstrates the country’s potential to excel in critical areas of innovation.

“When I say it is possible, I really mean it,” Dr. Bawumia said. “What is interesting and very remarkable is that Ghana is the leading country in drone delivery service worldwide. Recently, US Vice President Kamala Harris congratulated Ghana for its leadership in medical drone delivery."

Dr. Bawumia added that while the UK and US are just beginning to explore this technology, Ghana has already made significant strides. “We can do more than even the advanced countries if we put our minds to it, and I believe we can transform this country.”

Since its launch in 2019, Ghana's Zipline drone medical delivery service has transported over half a million essential medical supplies to more than 2,700 health facilities across the nation.

The service, operating from distribution centres in Omenako, Asante Mampong, Sefwi Wiawso, Anum, and Kete Krachi, delivers life-saving items such as blood products, anti-snake venom, and other critical supplies, particularly to remote areas inaccessible by road.

Dr. Bawumia’s comments underscore Ghana’s growing reputation as a leader in technological solutions for healthcare, and its ability to innovate on the global stage.
