Chiefs, politicians must unite for devt — Asiedu Nketiah
Th National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has stressed the need for unity between traditional leadership and political stakeholders in promoting peace and development.
He said such collaboration would boost local economic activity and improve people's livelihoods.
Awafiaga
He was speaking at the outdooring of Torgbui Avornorkadzi VII as Awafiaga (Domefiga) of the Agave State.

The new chief is known in private life as Assistant Superintendent of Police Isaac P.K. Avenorkadzi.
The colourful ceremony brought together chiefs, queen mothers, political leaders and community members from across the Agave Traditional Area to witness the formal installation and public outdooring of Torgbui Avornorkadzi.
He was joined by NDC Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu and the South Tongu District Chief Executive, Victoria Dzeklo, to attend the ceremony.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah praised the new chief for ascending to the throne peacefully and without dispute.
He described the development as a shining example of unity and maturity within the traditional area.
He advised the new Awafiaga to stay humble in his new role and continue showing the same character that helped him smoothly rise to the throne.
Agriculture
Mr Asiedu Nketiah urged the chief and the people of Agave to place strong emphasis on agriculture and local economic development.
Beyond production, he urged the people to create markets for agricultural produce, thereby strengthening local economies and improving livelihoods.
Service
In his remarks, Torgbui Avenorkadzi noted that leadership was not a place of comfort but one of responsibility and service to the people.
He stressed the importance of discipline and highlighted education as the foundation for development in the Agave State.
He called for unity among the people, noting that the time had come for Agave to rise and pursue meaningful transformation.
Touching on the issue of growing tensions and land disputes in the area, Torgbui Avenorkadzi urged residents to prioritise peace and cooperation.
The South Tongu MP, Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, presented a cash donation of GH₵20,000, along with packs of bottled water and assorted minerals, to support the ceremony.
