It will close the nominations on August 2, 2024, while the flagbearer candidates will be vetted from August 6 to August 7, 2024.

The Congress Committee Chairman, Nana Mireku Tumi, who announced this at a press conference last Tuesday, said the nomination forms cost GH¢20,000 while the filing fee is GH¢300,000.

"Comrades who paid during the 2023 nomination period do not have to pay again, but will have to pick the forms,” he said.

Campaign

He said the candidates would be given the opportunity to canvass for votes from August 9 to August 23, 2024 while the congress to elect the flag bearer will take place on August 24, 2024.

The CPP set up an eight-member independent committee to steer the affairs of the party and reorganise its operations until new national officers are elected, under the chairmanship of Wing Commander Patrick Sorgbodjor (retd). The other members are Prof. Nii Noi Dowuona, Ali Adamu, Opare Addo, Joyce Larbie, Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim, Bright Akwetey and Kwame Botsio.

It followed a series of meetings by a group of founding members of the party in collaboration with the council of elders of the CPP with members of the National Leadership, Central Committee, Legal Committee and the former Flag Bearer of the party, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, to discuss the crises in the party and find ways of addressing them.

The independent committee set up a Reorganisation Committee, with Yirimambo Moses and Habib Yakubu tasked to coordinate the work of the committee with other members drawn from various parts of the country and portfolios.

It subsequently set up the Congress Committee which was established to design a road map to take the CPP to congress to elect a flag bearer.
