Ellembelle District Assembly earmarks 24-hour economy market at Aiyinasi
The Ellembelle District Assembly is set to build a 24-Hour Economy Market Centre at Aiyinasi as part of the government’s flagship 24-Hour economic policy to boost trade and commerce in the area.
In addition, four other market centres are to be built at Nralekyi, Nralekpole, Anokyi and Atuabo, all in the Ellembelle District.
The District Planning Officer of the assembly, Theophilus Tamatey-Agbo, announced this at a public hearing on the Medium Term Development Plan from 2026 to 2029 at Nkroful in the Western Region.
The meeting allowed participants and stakeholders within the district to make inputs into the four-year development plan.
Mr Tamatey-Agbo said the assembly intended to expand existing market infrastructure and build modern markets to boost revenue derived from Internally Generated Funds to execute projects and spearhead development of the area.
Revenue
The District Chief Executive, Joseph Armah Agyekum, stated that the assembly would strengthen its revenue mobilisation efforts to raise internal revenue for projects.
He asked the staff of the assembly to work harder to achieve the aim of the decentralisation process and to ease the burden on the central government. — GNA
