Ghana ready for credit system — Dr Bawumia
The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has explained that the achievements of the national identity cards, the digital address system and mobile money interoperability have placed the country in the best position for the introduction of a credit system.
He, therefore, stated that the country would move into the credit system by the end of the year.
Dr Bawumia, who was selling his message of "bold solutions" to the traditional leaders of Sempe and the Clergy in the Ablekuma West Constituency in the Greater Accra Region last Monday, said the system would make life easier for Ghanaians.
As part of his stakeholder engagements, Dr Bawumia who had earlier toured the Ablekuma North Constituency, also met with some Muslim leaders at Dansoman Nasrawa.
He also interacted with traders at Dansoman last stop and addressed a rally at Tony’s park, also at Dansoman in the evening.
Development partners
He told the chiefs of Sempe that he would amend Section 63 of the Chieftaincy Act under his presidency to bring chiefs closer to government to pave the way for the traditional rulers to be given living wages.
Dr Bawumia also reiterated his resolve to re-designate churches and faith-based institutions as development partners so that they were given incentives when they initiated projects which aided development.
On LGBTQ, he reiterated that it would not be allowed under his government, no matter the cost, and added “We will bear the cost to protect our values.”
Dr Bawumia said he would institutionalise the gold for oil purchase to stabilise the cedi and service the country very well.
The NPP flag bearer further said he would make the application of technology in agriculture a priority and added that he would also provide capital to support the farmers.
Support
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu –Ekuful, appealed to the chiefs and Clergy to support her and the NPP flag bearer, saying: “We are working with the people so we need your support.”
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful said: “We have done enough but we know there is more to be done”.
She said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had placed the country on a better foundation which needed someone in the person of Dr Bawumia to come and build upon it.
A Pastor of the Four Square Gospel Church, Rev. Jerry Owusu Agyina, on behalf of the Clergy said the elections in December would be peaceful.
