John Jinapor urges massive support for proposed Savannah region
The Member of Parliament for Yapei/Kusawgu in the Northern Region, Mr. John Jinapor has admonished the chiefs and people of Gonjaland to remain united and fight for a common course for the development of the area.
"This is the first time in the history of the area that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) have come together for a common course, I can assure that with this commitment and unity we would come out in our numbers on December 27, 2018” [to vote in support of the proposed new Savannah region], he said.

Among the dignitaries who graced the Damongo rally were the the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Saeed, the Member of Parliament for Madina and a Minister of State, Mr. Boniface Abubakar Siddique, the Member of Parliament of Yapei/Kusawgu, Mr. John Jinapor, the Member of Parliament of Damongo Mr. Adam Mutawakilu, Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Samuel Abu Jinapor and former and current district chief executives in the area.

He said the constitution has set strict requirements for the creation of new regions and for the requirements to be met, the people in all the affected areas must come out in their numbers to vote massively in favour of the new regions.
Dr Bawumia said the referendum was a golden opportunity for the people to exercise their civic responsibility to meet the constitutional requirement for the new region.
He stated that the government was committed to entrenching democracy at the grassroots, hence the setting up of the Justice Brobbey Commission to evaluate the petitions for new regions and make appropriate recommendations.
Vice President Bawumia commended the people of Gonjaland for demonstrating the spirit of togetherness in the demand for the Savannah region, saying “I have been following the activities of the people of the Gonjaland from afar and I can see the spirit of oneness and togetherness.”
