LPG lauds govt for fuel price reduction
The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has commended the National Democratic Congress government for the recent reduction in fuel prices.
That, the party said, had brought timely relief to households, transport operators, and businesses across the country.
A statement signed and issued by the General Secretary of the LPG, Jerry Owusu Appauh, said although some had attributed the development to the recent drop in global crude oil prices, experience showed that international price movements did not automatically result in local reductions.
Consumers
"In many cases, Ghanaian consumers have not benefitted from falling crude prices due to domestic pricing structures and policy choices.”
"This reduction is therefore significant. It represents one of the few instances in recent years where a government has realistically transferred global price gains to consumers at the pumps," it said.
"Lower fuel prices ease transportation costs, reduce pressure on food prices, and support overall economic activity.
We encourage the government to sustain this responsive approach and maintain transparency to ensure that future global price advantages continue to reflect locally," it said.
