Maintain law, order at collation centres - NPP urges police
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the National Elections Security Task Force to ensure the maintenance of law and order in the electoral process, particularly the smooth and transparent collation of election results.
It urged the police to deploy adequate personnel to key locations and intensify patrols to prevent any disruptions that could undermine the integrity of the electoral process.

Addressing a press conference last Sunday, the General Secretary of the party, Justin Frimpong Kodua, also called on all political parties and their supporters to remain calm and respect the rule of law.
He stressed the need for cooperation with the security agencies to ensure a peaceful and orderly collation process.
Context
The NPP’s appeal comes in the wake of heightened tensions and incidents of unrest at some collation centres in the ongoing collation of results at some collation centres.
Violent conduct
Mr Kodua said the party had taken notice of the alleged violent conducts of some NDC supporters at some of the constituencies’ collation centres.
He cited Damongo, Ablekuma North, Techiman South, Aowin, Obuasi East, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Fanteakwa North, Ahafo Ano North, Ahafo Ano South West, Akwatia, Trobu and Tema Central as examples.
“Indeed, data that made our flag bearer concede this morning shows clearly that the NPP has won the constituencies I have mentioned but the NDC knowing very well that they lost these seats to the NPP are unwilling to accept their fate and are desperately seeking to compel the EC to do their bidding,” he said.

He warned against any attempts to manipulate the results of the parliamentary elections.
Mr Kodua reminded the IGP of his promise to ensure free, fair and transparent elections, stressing that “you made a promise to political parties on two different occasions when we met you at your office, and your words were unambiguous—that you’ll see to it that we have free, fair and transparent elections,” he said.
“We must ensure that the rights and safety of all our citizens are protected. We must not allow illegal looting and intimidation of our citizens, and I call on the leadership of the NDC to call its supporters to order and condemn these unnecessary acts of violence,” he stated.
