He, however, said in the wake of COVID-19, which was claiming many lives in the world, the NCCE had to undertake the necessary action to educate the public on the precautionary measures.
He said the public education was focused on regular hand washing with soap under running water, use of alcohol-based hand sanitiser, not touching the nose, mouth and eyes and ensuring social distancing.
Operations
Mr Arhin said the commission had five pickups and a Nissan Patrol vehicle that would be used for the education.
He said because fuelling was a hindrance, Vivo Energy Ghana Limited had decided to sponsor the cost of fuel for two weeks, with the Church of Pentecost also supporting the education with their evangelism van.
He said a vehicle each was allocated to Wassa East, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Jomoro, Tarkwa Nsuaem, Amenfi West and the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC).
Mr Arhin said they had so far covered 11 out of the 14 districts in the Western Region.
