NPP Council of Patrons commends Elections Committee

The National Council of Patrons of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has commended the party’s Presidential Elections Committee for what it described as the successful, credible and transparent conduct of the party’s 2026 flag bearer elections.

It said the process had further strengthened the unity within the party as it prepares for the 2028 general election.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairperson of the Council, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, a former Chief of Staff and the Secretary to the Council, and Dr Charles Dwamena, popularly known as Dr China, who also serves as the NPP’s National Treasurer, the Council praised the committee for its dedication and leadership throughout the electoral process.

“The council hereby conveys its profound commendation to the committee, particularly the Chairman, Joseph Osei-Owusu, for the exemplary dedication, selfless service and courageous leadership exhibited in the management, organisation and conduct of the 2026 flagbearer elections," it said.

The council stated that the committee’s “firm and principled posture on critical electoral governance matters” ensured a process that was credible, transparent, free, fair and incident-free, thereby strengthening confidence within the party.

The council further noted that the committee’s work came at a critical moment for the NPP, when the party faced significant uncertainty and important internal decisions.

“At a time when the party stood at a critical crossroads and confronted significant uncertainty, the committee demonstrated exceptional foresight, resolve and unwavering institutional loyalty,” the statement added.
