Guard public purse judiciously — Ashitey
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Ishmael Ashitey, has called on government officials within the various departments and agencies to judiciously guard the public purse against malfeasances and leakages.
He said this was not only necessary in helping to save funds, but would also enable the government to provide the necessary facilities and services for accelerated development of the country.

“Indeed, the growth and development of every economy hinges on how resources are judiciously managed. In this regard, I wish to urge all MMDCEs and directors of various departments and agencies to plug the leakages associated with revenue mobilisation and financial utilisation in order to get enough funds to provide infrastructure and other social services needed by the people,” the minister added.
Event
He made the call during an end-of-year party organised by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Accra.
The occasion was used to honour long-serving and hardworking staff of the RCC who were due for retirement.
Those honoured included Messrs Mahama Fuseini, Joseph Ansah, Asare Yeboah, Mrs Felicia Nelson and Mrs Elizabeth Bortier.
They were presented with electrical appliances such as deep freezers and television sets as part of their retirement packages.
Appreciation
On behalf of her colleagues, Mrs Nelson expressed appreciation to the RCC for recognising their hard work over the years.
