The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda, Mr William Agyapong Quaittoo, has cut the sod for the construction of a modern football field for the Zongo community at Akyem Oda.
The project, which is being financed by the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development, is to be completed in four months.
An Accra based contractor, Talent Discovery Limited, is undertaking the project which involves the greening of the field, fencing it with barbed wires, construction of stores and tools rooms and provision of wash rooms and a borehole for water supply.
In his address, Mr Quaittoo advised the community to give practical support to the contractor to enable him to complete the project on schedule.
He stated that he had reached an agreement with the contractor to recruit the labour force from the community as a means of reducing the unemployment problem facing the youth in the area.
The MP stressed that the employees, who would show seriousness in the discharge of their duties, would be given permanent employment to manage the facility after completion.
According to Mr Quaittoo, he had already provided the Local Authority Junior High School at the community with a computer laboratory equipped with five desktop computers.
Alhaji Sariku Ademu, the Hausa chief of Oda Zongo, who represented the Oda Zongo community chief, thanked the MP and the government for their commitment to the development of the community, in particular, and Ghana in general.
