MP Mireku Duker used his left jab to pummel Bissue - Eyewitness

An eyewitness of the much-publicised brawl between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker and the NPP Western Regional Secretary, Mr Charles Bissue has shed light on how the latter suffered his facial injuries during the bout.

According to Mr Benjamin Kessie, Municipal Chief Executive of Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly who was in the meeting where the scrap happened, the MP's right middle finger was chomped on by Mr Bissue during the scuffle after the latter started implementing a verbal threat to beat the MP.

However, the MCE said Duker managed to use his left hand to punch Mr Bissue several times to release his finger.

"He had to use the left to punch him for Bissue to leave finger, to just open the jaw for the finger to come off," Mr Kessie told Joy FM in an interview monitored by Graphic Online.

As to why the gathering did not separate the pair when the fight started, the MCE said Mr Bissue's attack on Mr Duker was "so unexpected" that no one had time to react.

"It was never expected, It was not anybody's expectation. We thought that Bissue was just coming around to, you know, say a word and go back, so we were all seated and looking on. It was so unexpected that Bissue will walk from the stage to were Honourable Duker was seated and then begin to attack him... We only went to separate them when the action had started".

Mr Bissue, a presidential staffer has denied that he instigated the fight.

Meanwhile, the NPP Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency has appealed to the party and the government to consider providing security for MP's.
