NDC, NPP lauded for show of maturity
The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been lauded for showing maturity after the results of the 2012 general elections were declared.

According to Nana Kojo Amuakwa V, Chief of Agona Duakwa in the Central Region, though the NPP was challenging the election results at the Supreme Court, no violence whatsoever had been recorded among the supporters of both parties to undermine the peace in the country.
He, therefore, appealed to the leaders to maintain a peaceful co-existence among themselves for their followers to emulate.
Nana Kojo Amuakwa stated this at a peace meeting he organised for the people of Agona Duakwa and its environs recently to educate them on how to conduct themselves after the court’s judgement.
The gathering, which was attended by members of both NDC and NPP and other youth groups, was to impress on the local leaders of both parties to give peace a chance after the Supreme Court’’s ruling.
He was hopeful that Ghanaians by their peaceful nature would not resort to violence while cautioning members of both parties not to provoke each other after the judgement had been given since it could degenerate into a political conflict.
He added that the court was the final arbiter and that their final decision should be accepted by all.
He particularly cautioned stooges of the party, who would be used by their leaders to cause mayhem in the nation to resist any attempt.

Mr Daniel Nyarko, a representative of the NDC and Isaac Ntsiful, the Agona East Constituency Deputy Secretary of the NPP, who both pledged to accept the court’s ruling, advised their supporters not to indulge in violent confrontations that would affect the development of the area and the nation at large.
A former Member of Parliament for Agona East, Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, said that NPP as a democratic party resorted to the court instead of violence and must therefore be commended.
The Agona Nyakrom District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (D.S.P.) Mr Paul Wesley Baah mentioned that the police had been well resourced and wasp therefore, prepared to maintain peace across the country after the judgment.
