NDC will not sell presidential forms to "wee" campaigner - Koku Anyidoho
The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr Koku Anyidoho has stated that the party was not ready to sell presidential nomination forms to anybody who was going to legalize the sale of “wee”.
“As a political party, we refuse to sell our presidential primary forms to anybody who has said that he is going to legalize the sale of wee.”
"Secondly this is the same person who has said that when he gets the opportunity to become flag bearer of the party, he is going to make Nana Akufo- Addo his running mate.”
"Obviously he has no understanding of the NDC’s guidelines. We are not going to waste our forms on any such person. It is as simple as that, nobody will take us to any court, nobody will hold us liable, we will not sell our forms to George Boateng because if we give it to him he is going to legalize the sale of wee and we’ll not allow it to happen.”
Mr Anyidoho made this known in an interview on Accra based Joy FM in a response to why the NDC Tuesday afternoon snubbed Mr George Boateng when he tried to pick presidential nomination forms from the party’s headquarters.
Boateng has vowed to challenge President John Mahama as flag bearerin the up coming presidential primaries in the party.
He earlier picked nomination forms last week for the race but was told later that his form was actually a draft and asked to return it.
He went to the NDC headquarters Tuesday afternoon with the hope of picking new forms but was not welcomed. Even though he had access to the compound, he was not allowed to enter the reception.
Asked why the party officials didn’t make it clear to Boateng that he was not going to get the forms, Mr Anyidoho told Joy FM that Boateng did not officially walk to the office to demand for the forms.
“He just came to the office premises and was just in the open area down there claiming you are coming to buy forms, why? Walk up to the General Secretary’s office and demand that you want to buy forms. We are not selling any forms to Mr George Boateng and nobody is going to cut off our heads,” Mr Anyidoho emphasizd.
The NDC goes to its primaries on November 7, 2015 to elect its flag bearer and parliamentary candidates.
Nominations were, therefore, opened on August 27, 2015 and are expected to close on Thursday September 10, 2015 before vetting and other processes.
The party has expanded its Electoral College for the primaries by giving each card-bearing member a voting right in the election of candidates to reduce vote buying.
