NPP manifesto to hinge on '1-District-1-Factory' policy - Akomea reveals

The central theme of the manifesto of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Election 2016 would hinge on the ‘1-District-1-Factory’ policy, Communications Director of the party, Nana Akomea has revealed.

He made this known in an interview with Accra based radio station, Class FM.

Already the party has indicated it has identified over 300 projects across the 216 districts of the country to bring into fruition the ‘1-District-1-Factory’ policy, when it wins the December 7 election.

The policy, which is an integral part of the party’s agenda to industrialise the country is to compliment a number of “strategic, arch industries” to be established, in partnership with the private sector, the party has said.

The party's presidential nominee, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said his government would reposition the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre to focus its attention on attracting investment, both domestic and foreign, into strategic industries – iron and steel, cement, bauxite and aluminum, petrochemical industry, vehicle assembly and the manufacture of machine parts and equipment.

"These are going to be the arch industries for which we are going to anchor our industrial development,” Nana Akufo-Addo said.
