NPP must provide a strong and critical opposition to government : Wereko Brobby (Audio)

Former chief executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Dr Charles Wereko Brobbey has blamed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to provide a strong and critical opposition to the NDC government.

According to Dr Wereko Brobbey with all the current economic agitations  happening in the country, he is yet to hear the opposition NPP proffer viable alternatives to the current economic crisis.

He said the government of the day can choose to impose whatever levy or taxes they want and that it is up to the opposition to stand against such moves in the interest of the general public, adding that it will even be an exercise in futility since government has the majority in parliament.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Dr Wereko Brobbey said, looking at the dip in the price of oil in the world market , he is not happy Ghana is paying more for fuel compared to a country like America looking at the wide income gap between them.

He said government should find ways of generating revenues and cut down on profligate expenditure which includes reduction of ministerial and presidential convoys, and other waste of resources.
