NPP presidential aspirants must respect party structures — Bugri Naabu

The Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu, has called on all 2016 presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party to respect the party’s constitution and structures to foster unity within the party.

In this regard, he has encouraged all aspirants to not use the party’s structures from the polling station, constituency, regional and national levels to further their campaigns until nominations were opened for the presidential primaries.

He said aspirants should come to the region to meet their co-ordinators and use their campaign structures without using the party’s structures.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Mr Naabu said those aspirants who would go against the directive would be sanctioned according to the party’s rules and regulations.

He, therefore, advised all the partys presidential aspirants to stay away from using the regional structures of the party until nominations were opened.

“I am only restating the directives from the National Executive Committee,” he stated.

Mr Naabu said he would not allow any of the flag bearer hopefuls’ interest to supersede that of the party’s.

He also threatened to sanction any party executive in the region who would flout his directive and grant audience to any of the flag bearer hopefuls ahead of the opening of nominations for the contest.

He further admonished the flag bearer hopefuls to avoid any smear campaign against their opponents, saying, “We are one family and we must not give our political opponents the weapon to fire at us.”

According to Mr Naabu, the NPP must re-strategise to wrest power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016.

He noted that the NDC had nothing new to offer Ghanaians and so “ the NPP would be the best alternative.”
