The delegation, jointly led by the National President of the Old Vandals Association (OVA), Alhaji Razak El-Alawa, and the current Master of Commonwealth Hall, Prof. George Armah, expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic event and urged the family to take heart in these trying moments.

The spokesperson for the delegation, Mr John Mbroh, assured the family that the funeral of Prof. Asenso-Okyere would also be seen as an Old vandal affair, and the OVA and Commonwealth Hall, together with the University of Ghana, would organise a fitting farewell for the late professor.

Mr Mbroh recalled that it was Prof. Asenso-Okyere who, as Master of Commonwealth Hall, organised the first ever home-coming of old vandals in August 1997 that gave birth to the OVA and  he had regularly attended activities of OVA even after he had left the services of the university.

Other members of the delegation were Prof. Harry Akussah, the immediate past Hall Master who took over from Prof. Asenso-Okyere, Prof. Frank Nyame, the  current Vice Hall Master, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah of the Supreme Court, Mr Felix Addo, the Country Director of Pricewaterhousecoopers, and Mr Kofi Agbogah, a one-time National Assistance Secretary of OVA.

The rest included Mr Sam Nii  Bekoe Tackie, the Senior Hall Tutor; Dr Kodzovi Akgabli-Honu, the President of the Senior Common Room (SCR) of the hall;  Mr  F.K Boadi Asamoah, the Eastern Regional President of OVA; Mr Francis Avornoste, the National Secretary of OVA, and Mr Kwaku Biney of  the  Agric Development Bank and member of the national executive.

In a related development, the old vandals have also sent a message of condolence to the family of the late Mr  Kojo Armah, the former MP for Evalue-Gwira,  who also passed away recently.
