Nominations were opened on November 2, 2015.

For the flag bearer slot, two  stalwarts,  Dr Edward Mahama, the four-time flag bearer of the party, and Mr Hassan Ayariga, 2012 flag bearer of the party, have picked nomination forms  to contest the race.

The second person is a former Member of Parliament, Mr David Apesera. The third to pick the forms is Abu Sidiq Kwashie Ebla, who is campaigning on issues such as integrity and loyalty to the party.
