‘President must shun critics, continue good works’

The Wenchi Constituency Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Richard Kwadwo Adu, has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to shun his critics and detractors, and carry on with his good works without looking over his shoulders.

He said it was important for the President to remain focused to implement policies and programmes that would transform the economy and change the lives of Ghanaians.

Speaking to journalists at Wenchi, Mr Adu praised the President for implementing a number of initiatives which had begun to attract investors and foreign partners to support the country’s development agenda.

He said bold initiatives such as the free senior high school (SHS) education programme, the one-village, one-dam and the one-district, one-factory project would go a long way to transform the economy and generate a lot of jobs for the youth.

“The NPP and Ghanaians in general support and appreciate efforts of the government and commend President Akufo-Addo for his efforts to transform the economy”.

“From all indications, the NPP is poised to fulfil its 2016 campaign promises and we need to support the President to achieve his mission,” he stated.

President on course

Mr Adu said though Nana Akufo-Addo was on course, the battered economy left behind by the previous administration had made it difficult for the government to resuscitate the economy in a speedy manner.

“It is very early, especially for the NDC to criticise the government because they know how they mismanaged the economy,” he said.

He indicated that the planting for food and jobs programme, and many poverty reduction interventions put in place by the government would reduce youth unemployment and better the living conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian.

Mr Adu said the political will that had been exhibited by President Akufo-Addo’s government in fighting corruption required support from the public.

Unity

He called for unity and urged the teeming supporters of the party to avoid unnecessary bickering that could derail the gains so far made by the government.
