Presidential candidates to pay GH¢50,000
Presidential candidates wishing to contest the 2016 general election will be required to pay filing fee of GH¢50,000, while parliamentary candidates will pay GH¢10,000, the Electoral Commission (EC) has said.

However, the commission said it would consider a request made by some of the political parties for the filing fees to be reviewed downward.
A statement issued by the EC in Accra yesterday and signed by its Head of Communications, Mr Eric Kofi Dzakpasu, said the EC would accept nominations from presidential and parliamentary candidates of political parties on September 29 and 30.
It said the EC briefed political parties on its preparations so far towards the conduct of the 2016 election at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held yesterday.
It said all the political parties would be given copies of the certified voters register by September 23, 2016.
Recruitment
It said the EC would begin the recruitment of election officials for the 2016 elections next week. Details of the qualifications, skills required and the application process would be announced next week.
The statement said the updated electoral calendar would be released and shared with all stakeholders today.
The exhibition of the provisional voters register for persons who registered during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), in the prisons, and National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registrants would take place today and tomorrow, September 10 nationwide.

The EC advised political parties to send their agents to observe the exhibition of the voters register at the district offices of the EC and the prisons.
The commission said voting for media personnel, security personnel and election officials would take place on December 1, 2016.
It said the transfer of votes for the general voting public would take place from today to October 7, 2016.
