According to him, leadership is a call from God to serve humanity and not self interest.

Mr Kpeglo was speaking at a send-off party for Mr I.W.K. Azumah, the immediate past headmaster of the Anlo Senior High School (ANSECO) recently.

The programme saw almost all the key stakeholders in the educational sector in the Keta Municipal of the Volta Region in attendance.

Mr Azumah was taking a bow after 41 years of dedicated service in the educational sector, eight years of which he used to serve as the headmaster of ANSECO.

Challenges

Mr Kpeglo pointed out that as an educationist, he was aware of the many challenges that existed in schools, especially those in the Volta Region.

“These problems can be tackled head-on if all stakeholders, including principals, headmasters and boards, become more strategic and innovative in the management of their resources,” he told the gathering.

He commended Mr Azumah for his immense contribution to the development of education, not only at ANSECO, but the region and nation as a whole.

Similar sentiments were re-echoed in solidarity messages from the Keta Municipal Directorate of Education, old students, staff and students of the school.

Donation

In another development, a group of about 50 old students from 1997 to 2010 donated a signboard worth GH¢ 7,000 to their alma mater.

The group, known as “Eminent Group,” raised the amount through a Whatsapp platform.

The Chairman of the Eminent Group, Mr Felix Mark Nutekpor, appealed to other old students to join the group.

“This is our alma mater; we, therefore, need all hands on deck to build a school that has made us who we are today,” the chairman stated.

The signpost was blessed and unveiled by Rev. Peter Edudzi Tetteh Sofegah, an old student.

He was assisted by Mr Azumah, Mr Tay, the Municipal Director of Education and Mr Raphael K. Kwashie.
