“The appropriate organs of the Party have acted. I am, therefore, calling on all loyal members of the Party to respect the decision of NEC and the Constitution of the Party, which provides channels for redressing grievances,” Nana Addo said in a press statement on Monday.

The NPP’s Disciplinary Committee had, on October 21, 2015, submitted a report to the NEC of the party recommending the indefinite suspension of Mr Afoko as National Chairman, citing his unilateral leadership styles as a bane to the party’s progress.

At a meeting held on Friday, the NEC endorsed the recommendation of the DC and asked the First Vice-Chair, Mr Freddie Blay to ast as National Chairman in accordance with the party’s constitution.

Expressing regret over recent happenings in the party, Nana Addo said, “I profoundly regret that matters have come to this. Such a development has been rather rare in the history of our party.  I had hoped that internal discussions and a spirit of cooperation would have enabled the Party to avoid such an eventuality.”

He further advised members of the party to conduct themselves in a disciplined manner in order to protect and promote the integrity and unity of the party.

“The NPP requires a united and committed front for the task ahead. We need to stay focused and organise ourselves to prosecute a successful campaign in 2016 to relieve the Ghanaian people from their sufferings and hardships. Ghanaians are looking up to us,” Nana Addo said.
