Ablakwa, Sam George and other ministerial nominees face vetting today

The Appointments Committee of Parliament will today, Thursday, January 30, 2025, continue the vetting of ministerial nominees, including Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Samuel Nartey George and other key appointees.

The vetting session was scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. with Mr Rashid Pelpuo, Minister-designate for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, followed by Mr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, nominee for the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology, at 9:00 a.m.

Mr Samuel Nartey George, nominated for the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., while Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, Minister designate for Sports and Recreation, will appear before the committee at 11:00 a.m.

After a break, proceedings will resume at 12:30 p.m. with Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister designate for Foreign Affairs.  Mr Joseph Bukari Nikpe (Transport) will be vetted at 1:30 p.m., followed by Mr Issifu Seidu (Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability) at 2:30 p.m. The final nominee for the day, Mrs Charity Gardiner, Minister designate for the Ahafo Region, will take her turn at 3:30 p.m.

Vetting Schedule for Friday
On Friday, January 31, 2025, the following nominees will appear before the committee:

8:00 a.m. – Salisu Be-Awuribe Issifu, Minister designate for the Savannah Region
9:00 a.m. – Wilbert Petty Brentum, Minister designate for the Western North Region
10:00 a.m. – Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, Minister of State for Government Communications
11:00 a.m. – Joseph Nelson, Minister designate for the Western Region
12:00 p.m. – Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, MP, Minister designate for Health
After a lunch break at 1:00 p.m., the vetting will continue with:

1:30 p.m. – Joseph Addae Akwaboa, Minister designate for the Bono Region
2:30 p.m. – Francis Owusu Antwi, Minister designate for the Bono East Region
3:30 p.m. – Edumoah Ekow Panyin Okyere, Minister designate for the Central Region
4:30 p.m. – Puozuing Charles Lwanga, Minister designate for the Upper West Region
The vetting process, which began about a week ago, is aimed at assessing the competence and policy direction of the nominees before parliamentary approval.
