Two NPP members pray court to disqualify Carlos Ahenkorah as Tema West candidate

Mr Ahenkorah, beat the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Ms Irene Naa Torshie Addo and Ms Adwoa Amoako to represent the party in the 2016 general elections.

But the two party members, Nana Yaw Ntim and Mr Joseph Christian, in their writ is claiming Mr Ahenkorah illegally contested the seat, which was reserved for Ga indigenes only.

The plaintiffs claim that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP on March 23, 2015, took a decision that only Ga indigenes were eligible to contest coastal constituencies of which the Tema West constituency forms part.

They are therefore praying the court to nullify the results and order a re-run of the parliamentary primaries since Mr Ahenkorah who won the primaries was not a Ga indigene..

Joined in the suit is the NPP as second defendant.
