The United Cadre Front (UCF) has pledged to maintain President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party in power in 2016.

This, the UCF said, would come about as a result of hard work, commitment and rebranding of the President, John Mahama and the NDC.

The UCF said they are poised with optimism to remain united and focused in building the front’s structures and protect the very gains made so far with alacrity.

“We surely will defend the party and its leadership under His Excellency John Mahama with tantalising deal bearing in mind the treachery of the enemy who does not see anything good that the good leadership of his Excellency John Mahama brings to the people of Ghana”.

“The enemy’s business is not new. Their negative tool is to undermine the presidency and the President,” they said.

“Ghanaians are smart; they know the enemy has a lot of specs in their eyes which they themselves are incapable of removing”.

These were contained in a 12- point communiqué adopted at a meeting held by a group which was an amalgamation of cadre groups in Accra yesterday.

The communiqué was signed by some of its leadership including the National Co-ordinating Chairman, Comrade Shine Gaveh, the Chairman of the Cadre’s Forum, Comrade Kwedi Anhwere, the National Co-ordinating Secretary of the UCF, Comrade Tom C Brown and the Co-ordinating Chairman of the Accra Regional Branch of the UCF, Comrade Henry Addoquaye Moffat.

Others are the National Vice Chairperson of the UCF, Ms Comrade Rejoice Ahiable, the high ranking official of UCF, Nana Addo Aikins, an official of the UCF, Comrade Abeeku Sagoe and Comrade Christian Vanderpuiye, a ranking member of the forum.

The communiqué also mandated the UCF to expand its co-ordinating umbrella to allow for more participation by other cadre groups to ensure effective mobilisation, co-ordination and teamwork.

It appointed a seven-man contact group to work assiduously and to link up with other identifiable cadre groups to bring them under the UCF.

The document paid glowing tribute to senior cadres who had suffered incapacitation and death after years of selfless work for mother Ghana.

It said the confusion that beclouded the Madina and Kumasi conferences with their attendant elections were things of the past and agreed that the outcome of the Sunyani conference, held in November, 2013, was legitimate and must be submitted to.

The Sunyani conference adopted a constitution for the UCF and swore in new leaders for cadres.

It prayed that 2014 brought the best of tidings to the President, John Dramani Mahama, the NDC and all cadres.

Dr E. G. A. Don-Arthur, Presidential Staffer for cadres at the presidency, chaired the occasion.
