Upper East NPP supporters protest
Scores of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters and sympathisers in the Upper East Region took to the streets of the Bolgatanga municipality yesterday to protest against what they described as "mismanagement of the country's resources by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)".
Clad in red and black outfits, the placard-bearing party supporters expressed disgust at the inability of the Mahama-led government to put the necessary structures in place to solve the myriad of problems facing the country, particularly northern Ghana. They described the hardships that Ghanaians were facings as "unacceptable".
Some of the placards read "We are tired of John Mahama", "Youth unemployment drop Mahama”, "NHIS, NYEP and Capitation Grant are all dead:who killed them, JDM", "We need competent leadership" and "Reduce the fuel price".
Corruption
Addressing the supporters before the demonstration, the 2016 running mate of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stressed the need for Ghanaians to demand change saying "we are now ready for change, and Nana Akufo-Addo must be voted as President come 2016".
He noted that Ghanaians were tired of "lies, massive corruption and wahala".
The Deputy Minority Leader, Mr Dominic Nitiwul, on his part stated that "we are going to change the NDC because John Mahama has failed northern Ghana, and people are suffering".
He called on Ghanaians to change Mahama and his parliamentarians come 2016 to ensure competent leadership.
Other NPP gurus such as Mr Sammy Awuku, National Youth organiser of the party and regional party executive members from the Northern and Ashanti regions joined the demonstrators.
