The match ended 1-1 in regulation time after Ashaiman cancelled Sabon Zongo's late goal to gallantly defend their trophy in front of the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Dr Usman Nuhu Sharubutu.

Ashaiman started their defence of the trophy with a lone goal victory over New Fadama, before knocking out Darkuman and New Town in the second round and semi-finals, respectively.

Zongo on the other hand had a walkover on Nima and qualified to the semi finals as the best losing side of the 2nd round before defeating Mamobi in the semi finals to set a date with Ashaiman in the finals.

Individual awards went to Sabon Zongo's Richard Sosu and Issaka Abdullah as the best player and best goalkeeper respectively, while former Ashantigold and Raja Casablanca striker Yakubu Mohammed won the top scorer award with 4 goals.

In his address, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu urged the youth to refrain from any act that would undermine the November general election.

The annual Sheikh Dr Sharubutu Ramadan Cup which is organised by Crisp Communication, under the auspices of the National Chief Imam, is aimed at bringing zongo communities together to climax the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Islamic Festival which marks the end of Ramadan.

Twelve communities —Ashaiman, Alajo, Darkuman, Madina, Mamobi, New Fadama, New Town, Nima, Nsawam, Sabon Zongo, Sukura and Tudu — took part in the competition.
