‘Dwarfs will not stand in Kotoko’s way’

After dropping important points against Bechem United last Sunday, Kumasi Asante Kotoko have targeted a win against Ebusua Dwarfs in a difficult clash at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast this afternoon.

Clashes between the two sides in Cape Coast have traditionally been uncompromising, irrespective of the positions of the two sides on the league log.

Already Kotoko’s  winger, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi, who scored for his side in their 3-0 win over Dwarfs in their first round clash in Kumasi, has stoked the fire by describing the clash as a make-or-break affair, and is confident Dwarfs will not stand in Kotoko’s way, even on home soil.

“Our game against Dwarfs is a do or die affair for the players. However, this is the time to prove our worth and show our gratitude to our die-hard fans by winning against Dwarfs at Cape Coast. A win will at least appease the fans as we get ready for Hearts on Sunday,” confident Gyamfi told the Graphic Sports.

The encounter, however, looks dicey because it comes on the heels of Dwarfs’ 0-1 loss to Berekum Chelsea last Sunday, while Kotoko missed the chance to jump to the top position after drawing 1-1 with Bechem United, a result which incurred the displeasure of Kotoko fans who questioned the competence of Coach Michael Osei and called for his head.

In Accra, league leaders Hearts of Oak and Brekum Chelsea clash in another tough game that will put the Phobians’ lead under test, particularly as they tend to disappoint on home ground in recent times.

Coach Sergio Traguil’s side struggled before salvaging a point against Aduana Stars in Accra last week, but playing against a side that are without an away win all season, Hearts start as favourites to win to maintain their position.

The Inter Allies-WAFA match  in Tema will be evenly fought as the two teams are accustomed with playing on artificial turf, while Dreams FC look favourites to beat visiting Aduana Stars at the Dawu Park.

Medeama are tipped to hand Liberty Professionals their second straight defeat when they face off at the T&A Park at Tarkwa, New Edubiase United, and Sekondi Hassacas clash at Obuasi, and at the Nana Gyeabour Park at Bechem, defending champions, Ashgold will not find it easy when they play as guests to Bechem United who have won their last two home games.
