Ghana progresses in African Women Championship qualifiers

Last Saturday, the Black Queens recorded a double over Burkina Faso to reach the final qualifying round of the 2014 African Women’s Championship.

Coach Yussif Bassigi’s side romped to another 3-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium, to wrap up a 6-0 aggregate.

Goals from Faiza Ibrahim and Agnes Aduako earned the back-to-back victory for the Queens.  

Interestingly, it was Faiza Ibrahim and Aduako who scored the goals in Ouagadougou but this time, the roles were reversed. While Faiza scored a brace in Ouagadougou, she was on target once in Accra and Aduako, who scored a goal in the first leg, scored twice in Accra.

After the win, Coach Yussif Basigi said, he was satisfied with the performance of the team and relished the challenge against Ethiopia who had a walk over to the next stage after South Sudan, who they were drawn up against in the first round, pulled out of the competitionton.
