Hard win for Hearts

Two second half goals   from  Accra Hearts of Oak's Togolese- import, Foovi Aguili, and Gilbert Fiamenyo yesterday saved the Phobians from a home defeat  as they beat Olympique de Ngor of Senegal 2-1 in their first leg CAF Confederation Cup duel at the Accra Sports Stadium.

After a series of wasteful opportunities, Aguili scored from a rebound when he met Shawn October's freekick which had  shaved off the woodwork in the 69th minute to cancel Fall Alioune Badara's opener in the 35th minute.

The Senegalese had the better part of the first half as Hearts struggled to contain the pressure from the attacking duo of Niang Ismaela and Sene Mauhamed.

Unable to string their passes together, Hearts were often caught off guard as the duo ran riot putting pressure on the Hearts defence but the resolute Robin Gnagne always came out strongly  to ward off their threat.

Coach Herbert Addo brought on Fiamenyo for Selassie Adjei and Kofi Abanga for Emmanuel Laryea after recess which changed the game in favour of the hosts but poor finishing from Aguili robbed them off the deserved equaliser until the 69th minute when he redeemed himself with the equaliser..

As the crowd  urged on the team the homesters produced some brilliant forays into the visitors half and in one of their dangerous moves, Richard Yamoah meandered a path through a forest of legs to locate Fiamenyo at the far left who dummied the Senegalese goalkeeper, Mouhameth Diallo to plant the ball in an empty net.

The Phobians kept the heat on their opponents but referee  Gomno Dauda from Niger refused to oblige a request for a penalty when Shaun October was brought down in the box.
