Juventus willing to sell Kwadwo Asamoah to Chelsea for £16m
Juventus will reportedly not stand in Kwadwo Asamoah's way if an interested club make a £16m offer for him.
According to reports in Italy, Chelsea will make a move for the Juventus wing-back in the summer as incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who arrives at Stamford Bridge after Euro 2016, is keen to reunited with the Ghanaian.
Conte was in charge when Juventus bought Asamoah from Udinese in 2012 and he quickly became a key player as a left wing-back.
The transfer of the 27-year-old Ghanaian could be a signal of a desire by Conte to play 3-5-2 with the Blues next season.
Asamoah was a key player under Antonio Conte – he was named in the Serie A team of the Year in 2014 – but has hardly featured under Massimiliano Allegri
Under Conte, Asamoah played 83 matches in two seasons – and was named in the Serie A team of the year in 2014 – but since he left he has managed just 23 in two seasons under Massimiliano Allegri.
Some of that has been due to injury but Allegri has shown much more trust in former Manchester United captain Patrice Evra.
According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus would be willing to sell Asamoah for around £15million.
Left-back has been a problem position for Chelsea in the past couple of years since the decline of Ashley Cole.
Right-footed Cesar Azpilicueta has played, and excelled, there but had to play on the opposite side much more frequently last season.
Filipe Luis lasted just a season at Stamford Bridge, while Baba Rahman and Kenedy drew the ire of fans for their inconsistent performances.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are set to meet Leicester star N’Golo Kante’s £20million release clause.
Kante is in high demand this summer after playing a key role in the Foxes’ historical title win, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger linked with a move before pouncing for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Granit Xhaka.
The 25--year-old midfielder was one of Claudio Ranieri’s top performers last season and has been attracting interest from a number of sides including Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
But Chelsea are now ready to meet his release clause after talks stalled for Roma star Radja Nainggolan, with Antonio Conte seeing Kante as the perfect replacement for long-serving midfielder John Obi Mikel.
