Wonder football Talent Hunt launched
Young footballers aged 16 to 22 could realise their dreams of playing in Europe and Asia when the Wonder Football Talent Hunt gets underway in Kumasi on June 13.
The scouting drive, being organised by Wonder Sports and Fitness Centre (WSFC), a Ghana-based football agency, in partnership with Netherlands-based Football Talent International (FTI), was launched last Friday in Accra with a promise to discover the next national football star.
The CEO of WSFC, Kofi Adjei-Maafo, explained that 20 players aged 16 to 20, would be selected, trained and coached to build a professional football resume, which will be used to prepare them for international justifiers in Europe and Asia.
“The preliminary stage of the justifiers starts from June 13 and ends on June 24 at the Paa Joe Park in Kumasi and continues in Accra from July 4 to 29.
“Unlike other justifiers which are held for one day, this is much more comprehensive so no talented player will be overlooked,” Mr Adjei-Maafo said.
The Head of FTI, Rene Koster, said their target of 20 players might be increased because Ghanaian players are prized assets the world over, especially in the Netherlands.
“We are looking for the best players, that means the total package: technique, physique, tactical awareness and mental strength.
“In the Netherlands, you can find a player with Ghanaian lineage at almost every club and they all have the traits of being physically strong and powerful which most clubs need,” he said.
