MTN FA Cup quarter-final: Kotoko to face Bechem Utd

Last year’s losing finalist, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, will face a stern test when they lock horns with Bechem United in an all-premiership quarter-final clash in this year's MTN FA Cup at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The match will be their second meeting this season after the Porcupine Warriors pipped Bechem United by a lone goal in their Premier League clash.

Kotoko will be targeting a double against Bechem in a bid to make it to the semi-finals, while the latter will attempt an upset to exact vengeance.

In the pairings, Wa All Stars will lock horns with second tier side, Wa Rockets, in a fierce local derby, while Liberty Professionals host Elmina Sharks at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park in Accra.

WAFA will travel to Nkawkaw to play in-form Okwahu United who eliminated Dreams FC and Hasaacas at the same venue in the previous rounds.

The FA Cup Committee (FACC) chairman, Kurt Okraku, announced that the quarter-final matches will be honoured on June 18 and 19.

He also confirmed that the grand finale would be yet another first as it would come alive at the magnificent Cape Coast Stadium on August 28.

The semi-finals will see another innovation by FACC as they stage a double-header (both matches on the same day) at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Ms Esther Quayson, Communications Director for Ghana for Peace Campaign, stated that her outfit had entered partnership with the MTN FA Cup competition to promote peace before, during and after this year’s general elections.
