FIFA referee Joseph Odarlai Lamptey was Saturday honoured by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) as the 2014 Referee of the Year at the 40th MTN-SWAG Awards held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra.
Referee Lamptey’s award was in recognition of his performance in both domestic and CAF-organised competitions last year.
In all, 25 sports personalities, teams and corporate bodies were honoured at last Saturday’s event held on the theme, “The Search for Sustainable Funding for Sports: The Role of the Private Sector”.
It was sponsored by MTN, Activa Int. Insurance, Alisa Hotel, ATL, CDH, Kenpong Group of companies and T.T. Brothers Limited.
