Starlets sure to qualify today

The Black Starlets of Ghana will aim to seal qualification to the next Africa Under-17 Championship when they play the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou today.

For now, the Black Starlets appear home and dry as they go into the second leg with a 5-1 advantage from the first leg played at the Cape Coast Stadium a fortnight ago. However, they must do away with any form of compalcency, especially given the underhand tactics employed by some home teams in such encounters.

However, Starlets coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, has vowed that his charges will not be lulled into a false sense of security in Ouagadougou. Fabin, all but promised that Ghana will be at the next tournament slated for Madagascar between April 2-16 next year.

“We are not going to be complacent; we will approach the game with a winning mentality to ensure we beat them again,” Coach Fabin told the Daily Graphic in an interview.
