Mamprobi gets new artificial pitch
The facility, which was funded by the Coastal Development Authority (CODA), forms part of the developmental interventions earmarked by the Authority based on needs assessment. The newly designed facility was constructed by Blaze Investment Company Limited, with a standard FIFA pitch, floodlights and a barbed wire fence.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the chief executive of CODA, Mr Jerry Ahmed Shaib, stressed the need for the project in the area.
"Over the years, Mamprobi has produced a lot of sporting talents but that has dried up now. We have put up this facility for everyone in Ablekuma South to use. The only thing required of beneficiaries is to exercise proper maintenance culture," he said.
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to build sports infrastructure in the country.

“We want to bring back community sports in Ghana and to do that, we need facilities like this and we are committed to constructing many more of this across the country,” he added.
He said the government and his outfit would continue with the expansion of sports and other essential infrastructure for the coastal areas, and, therefore, admonished private and public institutions to support government’s agenda in transforming the coastal areas.
According to the CEO of Blaze Investment Company Limited, Salifu Sinkare, investing in sporting facilities of this nature is laudable since it offers a lot of benefits.
“We believe in supporting sports, and we have been supporting it in the last few years. We believe sports is cardinal and that investing in sports facilities help in personal development.
“We therefore look forward to partnering government and other corporate organisations to do more of this quality work," he concluded.
The event attracted scores of people and other dignitaries, including Nii Ashaley Asiku II, Mamprobi Manste, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Mr Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, Mr Kwabena Owusu, Assemblyman for Mamprobi, Nii Lante Bannerman, and Mr Adjei Sowah, a former Mayor of Accra.
