The classical and perfect beginning of matches of the 2015/2016 season has received tons of praises and commendations from all followers and commentators of the game. For once, the renowned and veteran sports commentator, Kwabena Yeboah joined the praise-singers. He watched the WAFA / Kotoko match at Sogakope and the Hearts / New Edubiase encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium.

And he could not hide his good feelings for the standard of play and even for the officiating referees. For some unexplained reasons, matches between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and any other Premier League club have always been top liners and hotly contested.

Medeama SC yesterday staged a spirited performance when they twice came from behind to hold Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a 2-2 drawn game at the Baba Yara Stadium.

After the fiasco of the abandoned league in 1957, a properly organised national league was launched in March 1958 by the newly elected chairman of the Ghana Football Association.

It was agreed by all that the Football Association should be the only authority to organise, promote and sanction inter-club competitions and matches throughout the country.

Ohene Djan rounded up the inauguration by stating that the objective of the league was “to provide a constant flow of material for international assignments and provide Ghanaians generally with a well-needed source of relaxation.”

A former board member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kennedy Agyapong, aka Kenpong, has urged supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko to remain resolute behind the club despite their poor start in th 2016 Ghana Premier League.

Kotoko started the season on a poor note, losing 0-2 to WAFA at Sogakope three weeks ago.

The result generated anxiety within the supporters’ front, with some calling for the head of the club's General Manager, Opoku Nti.

But the former board member of Kotoko contends that it is too early to call for Nti’s head.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko is poised to recover from their disappointing 0-2 loss to WAFA at Sogakope two weeks ago when they host Medeama SC tomorrow at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors hope to bounce back from that shocking defeat as they face Medeama who also lost their first two games to Ashgold and Hearts of Oak respectively.

This encounter evokes memories of their MTN FA Cup final clash last season which saw Medeama emerging as the winners of the tournament with a 2-1 win.

With this being their first home match this season, Kotoko cannot afford to disappoint their faithful fans as they seek to put more pressure on Medeama’s head coach, Tom Strand.

The minister of youth and sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has led a health walk organised as part of fun activities by the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) to promote  healthy lifestyles among its students, alumni and staff.
