The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, will today be affirmed at a Delegates Congress at the Tamale Stadium to begin his third term in office.

Weightlifting expert allays stunted growth fears

The Performance Director of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), Dr Kyle Calhoum Pierce, has assured Ghanaian parents that children who wish to take to weightlifting would not suffer from stunted growth.

According to Dr Pierce, who serves as the director of the Weightlifting Development Centre at the Louisiana State University in Shreveport, USA, he was personally involved in a research published last year in the British Journal of Sports Medicine which proved that the sport does not damage growth plates in children.

Basigi names 25 Queens for All Africa Games

Coach Yussif Basigi has announced a list of 25 Black Queens players to report for camping at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at 4 p.m. on Monday to finalise preparations towards the 2015 All Africa Games.

The invited players include the foreign-based trio of Elizabeth Addo (FTC Labdarugo, Hungary), Linda Eshun and Samira Suleman, both of Yikingur FC of Iceland.

Chelsea finalise Rahman deal

Minutes after the Blues fell to Manchester City 3-0, Chelsea announced the signing of FC Augsburg left-back Abdul Baba Rahman.
“We are delighted to announce we have reached an agreement with FC Augsburg for the transfer of Abdul Baba Rahman,” it said on Chelsea’s website.

The Ghanaian winger reportedly cost approximately $22 million, nearly covering Augsburg’s entire wage bill for the season.

‘SWAG wants more support for lesser sports’

The President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, Kwabena Yeboah, has implored the Ministry of Youth and Sports to devote equal attention to all sporting disciplines in the country.
