Osu Presec, Kumasi Girls win 2018 Sprite Ball Championship

Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu PRESEC) defeated Mfantsipim for the second time in three days to win the 2018 Sprite Ball Championship on Saturday at the El Wak Stadium.

Osu PRESEC were unable to repeat the massive margin of their first victory over four-time winners Mfantsipim which ended 45-14 but came from behind to edge their second meeting 25-22.

Sprite Ball 2018: Defending champs stunned on Day 1

Defending male and female champions of the Sprite Ball Championship, Opoku Ware School and Wesley Girls School suffered shock losses yesterday when they opened the defence of their titles at the El Wak Stadium.

In Group D, the boys' champions Opoku Ware (OWASS) were stunned 38-27 by Accra-based Sacred Heart Senior High Technical School while in the girls' Group A, Accra Wesley Girls SHS pipped defending champions, Wesley Girls School (Cape Coast) 23-20 in a day of shocks at Ghana's flagship high school basketball tournament.

The striker has enjoyed a phenomenal year with both club and country -- he was a key part of a Roma team that finished second in Italy's Serie A before moving to traditional English powerhouse Liverpool in the summer, where he's already scored 23 goals from just 29 games.

Sprite Ball 2018: Pope John defeat 2008 champs Legon Presec

Pope John Senior High School and St Thomas Aquinas SHS made winning starts to the 2017/2018 Sprite Ball Championship overpowering Presbyterian Boys' Senior High School and St Johns School respectively on Thursday morning at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

Pope John's and Presec, Legon teams were hoping to steal a march on their Group C rivals TI Ahmadiyya SHS and St Augustine's College when they took to the court but it was Pope John who notched their first win of the competition against the 2008 champions.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaian footballers playing in the country to be spurred on by the annual Confederation of African Football (CAF) awards to exhibit the highest standards in their football careers.

Record four-time winners of the Sprite Ball Championship Mfantsipim School made a disastrous start to the 2017/2018 edition of the basketball tournament losing 45-14 to minnows Osu Presbyterian SHS in their first match.

Last year's losing finalists Mfantsipim failed to recover from a poor start and trailed Osu Presec 15-0 at the halfway stage at the concrete courts of the El Wak Stadium.

12 Teams for Africa Cup for Clubs Champs,Ghana promises successful tourney

The Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra looks set to host one of the biggest competitions in Africa with 12 teams participating in the Africa Cup for Club Championships from January 20 to 27.

The eight-day tournament involves six male and six female bhockey teams who won their respective national leagues last year pitching their strengths against each other for bragging rights as the best hockey teams in Africa.
