Army chief urges Dogboe to be desciplined

The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Maj. Gen. William Ayamdo, has advised undefeated boxer, Isaac Dogboe, to remain disciplined in his career if he wants to attain greater heights in the sport.

Maj. Gen, Ayamdo cautioned Dogboe to listen and follow  the advice of his father since that was the only way to achieve his goals and targets in the sport.

The Commander of the Ghana Army made this pronouncement in Accra yesterday when Dogboe and his handlers paid a courtesy call on him ahead of his upcoming WBO Junior Featherweight Championship with Mexico's Jessie Magdaleno in Maryland, USA on April 28.

Addressing Team Dogboe, Maj. Gen. Ayamdo, assured the WBO Interim Super Featherweight champion of his support ahead of his world championship fight and congratulated him on his achievement in the sport so far.

"I believe in you and I know what you are capable of doing but you must continue to listen to your father in order to remain disciplined throughout your career.

"This will enable you achieve greater heights in your career and I congratulate you for all that you have achieved for yourself and the entire nation. I promise you of our support in your upcoming fight in America," he said.

Dogboe expressed his gratitude to him for his support and called on the Ghana Army Commander to ensure that the Armed Forces got involved in boxing to help win more medals from competitions such as the Olympic Games.

The father and tariner of the boxer, Paul Dogboe, on his part appealed to the Army Commander to permit them to utilise facilities at their gym for training and also pledged to help in training boxing coaches within the military.
