34 cleared for GOC elections

The three-man Electoral Commission of the Ghana Olympic Committee has cleared thirty-four out of the thirty-six applicants who filed their nominations to contest various positions at the GOC.

Whilst Cillian George Walsh from the Ghana Shooting Sports had his nomination rejected on the basis of his nationality, that of Jerry Ahmed Shaib from the Ghana Special Olympics Association is on hold following an error on his nomination form.

Walsh filed to contest the position of Vice President whilst Shaib filed to be part of the three other members on the committee.

According to a GFA source, the disciplinary committee would sit on a case involving Eleven Wonders  and  Berekum Arsenals and that of Real Tamale United and Tamale Utrecht FC

Thirty six people successfully filed their nominations to contest the 12 positions in the Ghana Olympic Committee as nominations closed last Tuesday  for the March 15, general election.

Ghana moves up to 43rd on FIFA rankings

The Black Stars of Ghana have moved two places up to 43rd place on the latest world football rankings released by FIFA on Thursday March 9.

Ghana moved up nine places last month (February) after placing fourth at the 2017 AFCON and their surge up the rankings continued despite not playing a match in the period under review.

GOC elections slated for March 15, 2017

The filing of nominations for the upcoming Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) elections which were opened from February 21 to March 7, 2017 has been closed. It was closed at 5pm on Tuesday March 7.

A statement issued by the GOC Electoral Commission indicated that a total of people have filed for the 18 vacant positions at the GOC by the time the nominations were closed.

NFL star Ezekiel Ansah launches foundation at emotional ceremony

It was a rare moment of emotion for Ghanaian-born American football defensive end, Ezekiel Nana "Ziggy" Ansah yesterday when he broke down in tears after a tribute to his mother at the launch of his foundation on March 7 in Accra.
