Right to Dream Academy graduate and Helsingborg IF forward, David Accam, hit the headlines at the just-ended Swedish league season after being named  Player of the Year.

The youngster also gained entry into the best XI of the Swedish League.

“It was a good season personally but not for the team. I was very happy to be the top scorer for my team, playing at the left wing,” Accam told www.righttodream.com.

Accam’s displays captured the imagination of many soccer fans in the Scandinavian region and beyond.

“My name has become a household word in Sweden. Most soccer fans in Sweden know me because of my performances. But I would  have been happier if I had helped my team get a more respectable position than the fifth place we got,” he stated.

The Nungua-born player’s performances have caught the attention of some top clubs in Europe but he is not keen on moving now.

The youngster scored 10 goals this season, a prove of his success, particularly considering his role as a winger.

“It was down to hard work because not every proof can score 13 goals in a season. I know I could have done much better but I have to take my time and improve upon that every year.” , he stated

Accam was on the bench in Ghana’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan last year in what was his first  call-up to the national team.

The speedster is relishing the prospects of linking up again with fellow RtD graduate, Abdul Majeed Waris and others at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
