Achimota Keep Fit Club gets new leadership
A fresh chapter has opened at one of Ghana’s most respected fitness institutions after the Achimota Keep Fit Club swore in a new executive to lead the club for the next four years.
The Achimota Keep Fit Club, located opposite the Achimota Police Station, has long been a hub for health, camaraderie and social interaction, drawing members from varied backgrounds, including the police, military, health professionals, retirees and the business community.
The club boasts modern and well-maintained facilities, including an AstroTurf pitch, a volleyball court and a fully functional clubhouse. With a membership base of over 150, it continues to attract individuals committed to staying active and connected.
Disciplined culture
Reflecting on his four-year tenure, outgoing Chairman, Daniel Osei, highlighted significant gains, most notably a 12 per cent increase in membership.
He also pointed to the club’s strong culture of discipline, revealing that there were no suspensions during his term and that attendance at training sessions improved markedly.
Mr Osei attributed these successes to the collective effort of members, the council of patrons and a committed executive team, naming the Vice-Chairman, John Kofi Asare; the Secretary, Yaw Amofa Boakye; the Treasurer, Nana Akua Prempeh; the Organiser, Kingsley Adu Addai, and the Women’s Organiser, Jane Kuma, for their dedication and support.
Taking over the mantle, Francis Ebo Taylor, paid glowing tribute to the outgoing executives and reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the club’s core values of fitness and unity.
He stressed the importance of collaboration, noting that his administration would actively consult past executives to ensure continuity and progress.
He also used the occasion to extend an open invitation to the public to join the club’s broader campaign to promote healthy living and help reduce lifestyle-related diseases in the country.
The Achimota Keep Fit Club trains every Sunday morning and on public holidays, and remains open to welcoming new members who are eager to be part of a legacy built on fitness, friendship and community spirit.
