The event was attended by former Black Stars legends, Rev Osei Kofi and Ibrahim Sunday, as well as the Deputy Minister of Youth & Sports, Hon. Vincent Oppong-Asamoah.

In his address at the ceremony, the Deputy Minister stated that some of Ghana’s greatest accomplishments in football and other sporting disciplines on the world stage were achieved with the players wearing adidas jerseys.

He said: “In the 1990s especially, the Black Stars were kitted by Adidas and when Ghana made exploits on the world stage and when Samuel Osei Kuffour and his Black Starlets teammates won the FIFA Under-17 Championship in Italy 23 years ago, they did so wearing Adidas”.

The Retail Director of adidas Africa, Warren Bowers, said the Adidas Ghana store offer a fusion of high performance and style items that will revolutionise the experience of Ghanaian consumers.

Mr Bowers said, “We aim to bring the best innovations to the Ghanaian market, such as our award-winning boost technology in running and basketball and Climachill in training apparel; we want to offer the Ghanaian consumer a first-class service.

“We will also provide such technology to Ghana’s athletes to help them perform at their best on the world stage. We expect to expand our operations beyond Accra to areas such as Kumasi and Takoradi to ensure that more Ghanaians have access to top quality training, style and sporting apparel in a variety of shops”, he added.

Valerie Ghajar, a representative of Nutmeg Limited, the official retail partner of Adidas in Ghana, disclosed that the Nester square store would start operations last Monday.
