The Ghana international becomes Claudio Ranieri's second capture of the transfer window after the acquisition of Demarai Gray from Birmingham City.

Amartey, who has won six caps for the senior side after making his debut against Senegal in 2015, plays as a central-midfielder and can also cover at right-back.

Speaking to the club's website Amartey said: 'It's a great pleasure to join Leicester City. I know the club have been interested in signing me for some time and that was a big part of my decision to come here.

'All over Europe, people are talking about Leicester City and how well the Club is doing in the Premier League. The team plays exciting, attacking football and I'm looking forward to being part of it.'

Amartey arrived in Danish football in July 2014 and played a key role in Copenhagen's second place Superliga finish, which saw them qualify for the Europa League.

The 21-year-old moved to Denmark after a spell at Swedish outfit Djurgardens IF, who he joined at the age of 18. DailyMail
